Preparation

  • Park level and follow the vehicle’s specified warm/cold check procedure.

Step by step

  1. 01Shut off the engine and wait the specified settling time.
  2. 02Remove the dipstick, wipe it, reinsert fully, then remove it again.
  3. 03Read both sides against the marked range. Add small amounts only if needed.
  4. 04Recheck and secure the dipstick and fill cap. Note unusual color, foam, odor, or rapid loss.

What success looks like

The level is within the marked range and the oil shows no coolant-like milkiness, heavy fuel odor, or visible debris.

Common mistakes

  • Checking on a slope
  • Reading the first pull
  • Overfilling
  • Using an unverified oil grade

Call a professional

Seek diagnosis for rapid consumption, repeated low level, contamination, or an oil-pressure warning.
