Tools & materials
Tools
- Rated jack and stands or lift
- Lug wrench
- Torque wrench
- Wheel chocks
Parts / materials
No replacement parts required.
Preparation
- Confirm interval, pattern, tire direction, staggered sizing, and TPMS considerations.
Step by step
- 01Mark original wheel positions and inspect tread at each corner.
- 02Raise and support the vehicle at approved points.
- 03Move wheels using the specified pattern; directional tires usually stay on the same side and staggered sizes may not rotate front-to-rear.
- 04Hand-start every lug nut, lower as appropriate, and tighten in a crossing pattern to the verified torque.
- 05Reset or relearn TPMS only when required and log the mileage.
What success looks like
Every wheel is flush and torqued, pressures are correct, and no vibration or warning remains.
Common mistakes
- Using a universal pattern
- Power-tool final tightening
- Ignoring directional arrows
- Skipping torque verification
